The UK’s ambition to maintain a world-class defence capability depends not only on technological advancement, but on the strength of collaboration across defence, academia, industry, and investment communities. While innovation exists across all sectors, there remains a gap between capability development and integration into defence systems at pace and scale. The theme for this year’s event reflects a need to go beyond technological theory and aspiration.

The event will:

• Provide an educational forum exploring how technologies are integrated into defence, rather than simply what technologies exist.

• Enable structured discussion between those who define defence requirements, those who develop solutions, and those who enable scale through investment and strategy.

• Showcase current work from industry, investors, and academic researchers through curated displays and authored contributions.

• Capture insights and outcomes in a post-event publication by Howgate Publishing, extending the impact beyond the event itself.

FIREBREAK 2026 is designed for participants who influence, enable, or deliver defence capability and who seek clearer pathways to stronger cross-sector partnerships, improved understanding of the defence integration process, actionable approaches to accelerate technology adoption and an enhanced alignment between defence needs and industrial capacity.
